baby registry.

a few weeks ago, hubsy and i went out to knock out our baby registry.
our shower isn't until the first week of June, but we felt like March was a good time to just make our registry (for whatever reason... : ).
though i didn't document our first outing (oopsy!), I got some glimpses to document our second stop later that week.

what an encounter with God registering was for me.
here's the thing...

being pregnant [and those of you that have been with child can probably testify], i've come to experience that almost all other women [especially] enjoy sharing their advice on what "to for sure do" and "what to for sure not do" all throughout your pregnancy term.  as I found in being in a relationship, being engaged, and being newly married... it is IMPOSSIBLE to apply all of the advice that people so love to share throughout that phase as well - since it comes from so many different sources, obviously several conflicts are inevitable and do happen.  so all advice isn't possible to apply!

well, researching for our baby registery was about 10 x's more intense on deciding what we "needed" to raise our little man than casual comments to consider from dear, old friends to simple passerby's that notice my belly and strike up a conversation.  as of late we've also been researching sleeping methods, feeding methods, birthing methods and the list goes on, so registering was the tip of the iceburg.  the deeper into the "stuff" I got, the deeper I realized, that

all of what was going to be "best" for our little man was absolutely happening right now in my womb.

though we have to run around and get our list of "stuff", my mind kept wandering back to how he was doing right now.  right now, where he is, he is:

warm enough
cool enough
fed enough
comfortable enough
relieving himself enough
safe enough
sleeping enough
awake enough
and on, and on, and on...

God created my womb to be the PERFECT environment for my tiny son, and my body simply CAME with that womb.  it's kind of like breathing - even if I am not thinking about making it happen even though it is SO important, it is still happening, because God created my body that way.  it just HAPPENS.  and all I am left to do is stand by in awe, and become more and more amazed that what had once achieved the size of a tiny olive, and is now the size of a head of cabbage [ha...] is every bit of a human at each stage, breathing, functioning, alive...

incredible.

registering was fun, and i look forward to some of the "stuff" because, you know, it's fun, but the personal and DEEP revelation of how capable and equipped God is makes me ever more content and CONFIDANT in God as the Creator of Life and the perfect Teacher for me as a mother, since He's got this down pat.  SUCH peace in Him, friends...

glimpse of life lately.

wow, seriously not been on here recently - sorry!
life has been full of transition, working at the bridal shop, lovely-lovely biology homework [i try to keep myself motivated], and preparing to have Easter here at our place with the family on Sunday afternoon!  today should be a busy day at the bridal shop, and tomorrow evening we are celebrating the Passover Seder meal with a family we used to every year all growing up.  I have tried to celebrate the ceremony every year for the past several, and it never comes together or I seem to be the only one interested, but this year, it's really gonna happen... so excited!  i will explain more about Passover in a future post.
also this week, we have hit the 30 week mark for baby-boy!  I have felt like I have become huge in the past week - this kid just seems to keep growing and growing which is wonderful!

a few glimpses of life recently:

fabulous chicken tinga taco recipe i found.
urban taco is my FAV restaurant in texas,
and i was craving one day last week.
turned out super well, my preggo tummy did NOT have a good night
but man, was it tasty...

how we start off every morning and end every night,
praying over our little man.
love this picture.

homework, homework, homework...
now only to stay focused...

i want to enjoy the spring weather today,
and savor it with the life that is coming in the air.

thank You, Jesus, for Good Friday.

things i wish i would craft.

every week it seems like i find new items online that look so fun and oh-so-easy to make, bake and create at home.

funny thing is, i realized this week that i have way more ideas saved than what i've actually created.

oopsy...

well i can say this... i LOVE peeking at my fellow bloggers ideas and their mad skills, and dreaming i could be as accomplished as they in their crafting expeditions.

i'm holding onto some favorite ideas for Easter, and for when i have more time on my hands when school is done, or maybe when i'm home full-time with baby (if i have free time... though it sounds like we will just have to wait and see what happens in that area in a few months).

here's to wanting to be a craftie...

and here's to spring.

Sabbath date w. my God and my man.

I serioulsy love Sunday's.

It's the one day a week that the hubby and I can spend the entire day together due to our weekly work schedule.
(Yesterday was our 8-month anniversary!)

This past Sunday, we decided to grab a brunch after church, which was filled with speaking of the future and dreaming and planning for what we want to do and how we can prepare ourselves now to get there.  Then we sat at a coffee shop and researched, worshipped, journaled...

our haven for a few hours.

little baby enjoying hanging out and seeking Jesus, too.
He was probably snoozing off and on a bit...

thanks for cheesin', honey...

meeting baby girl, Eden.

My husband is getting a haircut, and I am sitting at a coffee shoppe with my ultimate unwinding treat... a cappucino in a "for here" mug - something magical about it, try it.  He took a few hours off work this afternoon, and my heart delights in the fact that we get to have more time together today then we were expecting!  I can never seem to get my fill of spending time with him, and I can't stand going a few days without having quality "us" time, which is rare, but I am a bear if I don't get it.  I just don't feel healthy or something!  Marriage is seriously incredible like that...

This week I started my online class for Biology 101.  Week one has actually gone much smoother than I was expecting - I guess because the ominous biology course has been dreaded and avoided by myself for, well, years now because of it's loving reputation for intensity and impossibility of feeling like a successful college student throughout the entire course.  So I decided it was time to knock it out, especially before my Little Man arrives and my hands are full in a different way.  I have been taking two classes per 8 weeks since shortly after Chris and I got married, but having a baby in my body and all the unexpected hic-cups and interruptions that come with being pregnant and working on my feet part-time plus not doing school or work on the Sabbath, I decided to cut back to one course instead of two this current 8 week "semester".  So far it's been so delightful to not have to be thinking about school at every break and every spare minute that I have.  I realized today that these "Sabbath dates" with the Lord that I can now have, and the baby books that I can read before Baby Boy Bean arrives will be cherished times before I embark on being a momma full-time in just about three months...

I haven't gotten the pictures up yet, but we had the pleasure of meeting my very dearest friend, Sarah's baby girl, Eden Renee, for the very first time.

mini trip to the past:
her wedding, 8.1.09

here she as my moh, and five lovely months pregnant
this past summer

at three months old she is so sweet,
i could eat her up!!
[look at those cheeks!!]
when i was holding her, baby boy in my belly kicked her a bit.
that might explain her expression here...
i promise, they will be friends.

he couldn't get enough of her either!
she was so cute talking to him while we got our pampering done...
she fell asleep while he was holding her, and he started dozing off, too.
WISHED i had a camera...

my hubby is awesome, and always just knows it seems like...
he treated this new mommy and this mommy-to-be to mani's and pedi's while he watched Eden!
*sigh* so wonderful to catch up with this dear friend face to face.
way better than even Skype.

who would have known where life would take the two of us over the past few years.
and sooo grateful to be traveling it together.

off to my date with my darling husband...
ps-the haircut looks GREAT.  <3

springtime.

songs 2.11-13 {msg}

The Man
10-14 Get up, my dear friend,
fair and beautiful lover—come to me!
Look around you: Winter is over;
the winter rains are over, gone!
Spring flowers are in blossom all over.
   The whole world's a choir—and singing!
Spring warblers are filling the forest
   with sweet arpeggios.
Lilacs are exuberantly purple and perfumed,
and cherry trees fragrant with blossoms.
Oh, get up, dear friend,
my fair and beautiful lover—come to me!
Come, my shy and modest dove—
leave your seclusion, come out in the open.
Let me see your face,
   let me hear your voice.
For your voice is soothing
   and your face is ravishing.

an ode to the winter that is ending,
and the spring that is just around the corner -
